Sha Tin Horse Racing Tips: Free Best Bets & Value Overlays | 2026-10-11
Sunday racing at Sha Tin is here, and an 11-race program is on the board. Sha Tin is the big, galloping sister to Happy Valley's tight bullring. The sweeping turns and that long 430m home straight give horses time to organize themselves and punish anyone who spends too much early. Fields are deep and competitive from the opening Class 5 through to the Class 2 feature, and the pace shapes today are as interesting as I've seen in weeks.
This is where the GLD Line earns its keep. It's our data-backed projection of where the public market will settle, and it lets overseas and early-market players spot genuine value overlays before the crowd catches on. When a runner's GLD Speed Figure points one way and the projected price points another, that gap is where the profit lives. Today we have a couple of those, and one of them is a doozy.
Let's dive into today's card and highlight our top featured plays based on our GLD Speed Figures, pace analysis, and racetrack handicapping.

The race shape here is a clear lone speed setup. Nobody in this field looks desperate to burn early fuel, and that hands the tempo to whoever wants it. FLYING SNIPER's 41 GLD Speed Figure is joint-best in the field, and from Gate 5 over six furlongs he's in a nice spot to get a comfortable early position and make the others come to him. Cheek pieces are on again, and that's a sensible aid for a horse who needs to stay focused when he's out front or close to it. Add regular pilot M F Poon, who knows this horse's rhythm, and the D J Hall barn's good recent form, and you have the most complete profile on the sheet.
The danger is JOLLY COMPANION, who matches him on the figure (41) at a bigger GLD Line of 8/1. Z Purton jumping aboard from Gate 11 is a loud booking, and the tongue tie and blinkers combination suggests the barn wants him sharper. SO MY FOLKS (31, GLD Line 5/1) is honest but a few lengths shy on figures. MARVEL AND GOLD (37, 17/1) is the price player for the bottom of the exotics. For wagering, I'm happy to take FLYING SNIPER at 9/2 to win, then use JOLLY COMPANION as the main exacta partner. Throw MARVEL AND GOLD into trifecta and superfecta tickets for the extra juice.
Race 3 Picks: Class 4 (1200m) β Pace Play: #3 INVINCIBLE STARR
Win β #3 INVINCIBLE STARR
Exacta Box β 3, 5, 2, 4
Quinella β 3 over 5, 2
Grade: B+
GLD Line: 80/1
Barrier: Gate 3 | Weight: 130 lbs | Trainer: D J Hall | Jockey: M F Poon

This is the one that jumped off the page when I ran the card. INVINCIBLE STARR carries a field-leading 57 GLD Speed Figure, comfortably clearing the par for this Class 4 grade. Yet the GLD Line projects him at 80/1. The race shape is another uncontested lone speed scenario over the straight six on turf, and a PCK type with a good inside draw in Gate 3 and tactical speed can sit right behind or beside that tempo without being pinned wide. M F Poon reunites with D J Hall for the second time on my Best Bet and key list today, and the tongue tie is a familiar piece of kit.
I'll be straight with you: a price like that usually signals something the market doesn't like, whether it's recent form, fitness, or a lack of support. But the figures say he's the one to beat on pure ability, and we pay for ability. SILVER BLAZE (56, GLD Line 9/1) is the main threat. He's got first-time blinkers (B1) and H Y Yuen riding, and the figure is virtually identical. CALL ME SPARKLE (51, 9/2) is the likely favorite and a deserving one, with the B1/TT combination and J Orman. MIGHTY PROFIT (51, 8/1) completes the picture. My play is a small win bet on INVINCIBLE STARR, then he goes on top of exactas and trifectas with SILVER BLAZE and the two 51s underneath. If he shows up anywhere near the projection, the exotic payoffs could be enormous.
Race 11 Picks: Class 2 (1200m) β Feature Race: #3 KA YING ATTACK
Win β #3 KA YING ATTACK
Exacta Box β 3, 6, 2, 4
Quinella β 3 over 6, 2, 4
Grade: A
GLD Line: 6/1
Barrier: Gate 10 | Weight: 129 lbs | Trainer: D J Hall | Jockey: M F Poon
Notes:
The feature has a hot, contested speed look to it, and that's the key to the whole race. RISING FORCE (SPD, 89 GLD Speed Figure) is a sharp breaker from Gate 5 who wants the front, and with Z Purton aboard he's going to get a forward position. With other quick types around him, this has the makings of a hot speed duel through the first 400 metres. That helps a horse who can sit just behind the fireworks and uncork a turn of foot down the long straight. KA YING ATTACK is exactly that horse. He's a PCK with the top GLD Speed Figure in the field at 94, ascending form, and the visor (V) on to sharpen his focus. Gate 10 looks wide on paper, but over this trip it lets M F Poon pick his moment, settle in the second tier, and avoid any early traffic. D J Hall and M F Poon have been a potent combination all day.
TURQUOISE VELOCITY (PCK, 91, GLD Line 11/4) is the market-leading rival from Gate 4 under K Teetan, and he'll stalk the speed beautifully. The other piece of the puzzle is YOUNG CHAMPION (PCK, 89, GLD Line 15/1) with A Atzeni up and blinkers on. He's the value runner, with a figure in the thick of the finish at a price that makes him a natural exacta and trifecta booster. RISING FORCE is vulnerable at a short projected price if the pace collapses behind him. At 6/1, KA YING ATTACK is the right win bet, and I'll cover TURQUOISE VELOCITY and YOUNG CHAMPION in the exactas. RISING FORCE belongs on the ticket underneath, since he can still hang on for a share if the others take care of each other.
How to Handicap Sha Tin: Track Dynamics & The GLD Line
Sha Tin rewards patience and punishes early pace pressure. The turns are wide and sweeping, and the homestretch runs about 430 metres, which gives stalking types and closers real time to launch their run. That's why race shape matters so much here. In a lone speed spot like Races 1 and 3, the front end can dictate. In a hot contested speed duel like the feature, the pack runners just off the pace often hold the edge. Always check the rail position and how the inside lanes are playing before you settle on a longshot, because a few paths wide on the final turn can swing a close finish.
The best way to use GLD Speed Figures is to combine them with the GLD Line. Look for runners whose figures sit at or near the top of the field but whose projected odds are bigger than their ability suggests. Then check the pace map to see whether the race shape helps or hurts. A strong figure plus a favorable shape plus a generous price is the formula. That's how you find the overlays, and that's how you build exotic tickets that pay.
