MATZDEN ran a scorching 1:08.69 last start at Sha Tin to finish second, clocking a 59 GLD Speed Figure. For context, the benchmark par for Class 4 at Happy Valley is 51. He is eight lengths faster than the standard horse in this race.
Because he carries 132 pounds and drew a tough post position from the seventh spot, our GLD Line projects the public will let him drift out around 7/2. That's why the public will let him sit at 35/1 on the tote board. But look at where he was running: he was contesting Class 3 races, throwing down 64 and 66 GLD figures against horses who would run rings around this field.
Now he steps down to Class 4 company, gets a dream stalking gate in barrier 5, and picks up Aussie rider Jimmy Orman. Getting double-digit odds on a Class 3 performer stepping into softer company is how bankrolls are built. Play him each-way and box him in Quinellas with #5 INNO SUPER and #9 VIVA FIRECRACKER.

We close out the night with a wide-open Class 3 test over 1800m, and the market might end up sleeping on the most in-form runner in the gates. FORTUNATE SON dominated a mile handicap over this track on September 9, rattling home in 1:40.67 to earn a 78 GLD Speed Figure.
He steps up an extra 150 meters tonight, but he proved he handles the extra real estate when running second over this exact track and trip back in June. Hong Kong’s Vincent Ho stays in the irons, and while the GLD Line expects a crowded market to push him out to 17/1, our engine evaluates him as a serious contender. Pair him with #2 SERAPH GABRIEL in Exactas and use him aggressively in the late Pick 3 / Pick 6 sequences.
